About Me..
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with an extensive background in mental health. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at the University of North Texas, and I have a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. I have been a psychotherapist in practice for 8 years and I mostly work with individuals, ages 18-60+. My specialties include issues such as trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, depression, and mixed attachment types. I have a deep passion for working with individuals who have experienced some form of trauma in their life that keeps them stuck in avoidance patterns, emotional disturbance, and fear-based decision-making. It is possible to overcome trauma and experience a life of freedom and stillness. |
My Philosophy of Counseling |
My chosen methods of counseling are CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
CBT is a type of therapy that helps individuals become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so they can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. CBT also addresses various emotional challenges. For example it may help you identify helpful ways of managing emotions, learn techniques to cope with stress, resolve relationship conflicts, cope with grief and loss and manage symptoms of a mental illness. EMDR is a type of psychotherapy that enables individuals to heal from the symptoms of emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. It is primarily used to treat trauma and PTSD, but studies have shown it can be effective in other areas such as anxiety, chronic stress, panic attacks, complicated grief, performance anxiety, social anxiety, and pain management.
